I had a hydraulic problem on my skid steer and called all my local dealers in the lake Ozark area. They were all weeks out and really acted like they didn’t want to take the job. We called Luby Equipment out of Springfield and they pulled it in the next day to diagnose, and got the ball rolling. Travis at the desk answered all our phone calls and let us know the progress. If my Case machine needs work from here on out, I’ll be taking it to Luby. Customer service was tip top
Response from the owner:Cody, we appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. We’re glad we could get you taken care of on such short notice. We know downtime is money lost, so keeping customers updated and getting machines back to work matters. We’ll make sure Travis and the Springfield team see this.

Wheeled equipment, such as the CASE 621G wheel loader or Takeuchi TW80 Series wheel loaders, traditionally offers excellent mobility and higher travel speeds. Meanwhile, tracked machines like the CASE TV450B CTL or Takeuchi TL12V2 track loader provide superior flotation and stability in challenging terrain.

Key Considerations for Wheeled Equipment

Mobility and Speed Wheeled machines typically excel in applications requiring frequent movement between job sites or across paved surfaces. For example, the CASE 621G wheel loader can achieve higher travel speeds than its tracked counterparts, making it efficient for applications requiring mobility across larger areas.

Surface Impact On finished surfaces such as asphalt or concrete, wheeled equipment generally causes less damage than tracked machines. This makes them particularly suitable for:

  • Municipal work
  • Road construction
  • Warehouse operations
  • Residential projects with finished driveways

Operating Costs Wheeled machines often have lower maintenance costs in the right applications:

  • Tire replacement is typically less expensive than track replacement
  • Fewer moving parts in the drive system
  • Better fuel efficiency when traveling longer distances

Advantages of Tracked Equipment

Ground Pressure Distribution Tracked machines like the CASE TV450B or Takeuchi TL12R2 distribute weight more evenly across their entire track surface. This provides several benefits:

  • Reduced ground pressure
  • Better flotation in soft conditions
  • Enhanced stability on slopes
  • Improved traction in challenging terrain

Versatility in Various Conditions Track loaders prove especially valuable in:

  • Muddy job sites
  • Sandy conditions
  • Snow and ice
  • Sensitive turf applications
  • Steep grades

Stability and Control The wider footprint of tracked equipment provides enhanced stability for:

  • Precise grading operations
  • Heavy lifting tasks
  • Working on uneven terrain
  • Operating on slopes

Application-Specific Considerations

Construction Sites For general construction applications, consider these factors:

  • Site conditions throughout the year
  • Need for mobility between different areas
  • Surface type (improved vs. unimproved)
  • Required lifting capacity

The CASE TV450B track loader might be ideal for construction sites with varying terrain, while the CASE 621G wheel loader could be more suitable for improved surfaces with frequent travel requirements.

Landscaping Landscaping professionals often benefit from tracked equipment like the Toro Dingo compact utility loaders because:

  • They minimize turf damage
  • Provide excellent maneuverability
  • Work well in tight spaces
  • Offer stability on slopes and varied terrain

Snow Removal For snow removal operations:

  • Wheeled loaders often provide better performance on cleared surfaces
  • Tracked machines excel in deep snow and icy conditions
  • Consider the surface type being cleared (pavement vs. gravel)

To choose between wheeled and tracked equipment, evaluate:

Primary Application

  • What type of work will the machine perform most often?
  • What are the typical ground conditions?

Job Site Conditions

  • Will you work primarily on improved or unimproved surfaces?
  • What weather conditions will you typically operate in?

Transportation Requirements

  • How frequently will you move between job sites?
  • What are the typical travel distances?

Operating Costs

  • Consider fuel efficiency requirements
  • Factor in maintenance costs
  • Think about potential surface repair costs

Versatility Needs

  • Will the machine need to perform multiple functions?
  • Do you need to work in varying conditions?

Attachment Compatibility

  • What attachments will you need for your applications?
  • How does attachment availability differ between options?

Popular Equipment Options

Tracked Machines:

  • CASE TV450B CTL: Excellent for construction applications requiring stability and power
  • Takeuchi TL12V2: Known for its versatility and performance in various conditions
  • Toro Dingo TX 1000: Compact utility loader offering excellent maneuverability for tight-space applications and landscaping projects

Wheeled Options:

  • CASE 621G: Well-suited for general construction and material handling
  • Takeuchi TW80: Offers good mobility and versatility
  • CASE SR210B: Provides excellent maneuverability in confined spaces

By carefully considering these factors and evaluating your specific needs, you can select equipment that optimizes your operation’s efficiency and productivity. Remember that many successful contractors maintain a mix of both wheeled and tracked equipment to handle various applications and conditions effectively.
