When it comes to compact track loaders, the all-new Takeuchi TL11R3 is making waves — not just for its power and performance, but for its smart design focused on serviceability. At Luby Equipment, we believe that a great machine is one that works hard and makes life easier for operators and the technicians who keep it running.
That’s why we handed the keys over to our own Lee Gardner, a seasoned service technician based in our Cape Girardeau, Missouri shop. After completing a full Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI), Lee gave us his honest first impressions of the TL11R3 compact track loader — and what stood out most were the updates that make service faster, safer, and simpler.
First Look: A Smarter Layout for Faster Maintenance
The TL11R3 is packed with thoughtful improvements designed to reduce downtime and give field techs easier access to critical components.
Here’s what Lee had to say about the updates:
✔️ Simplified Under-Cab Design
Compared to previous TL series models, the TL11R3’s under-cab area is more open and accessible. Hydraulic components and fuel level senders are easier to reach — no need to wrestle with tight spaces.
“The only reason to raise the cab now is if you’re replacing the pilot filter,” Lee explains. “You don’t need to lift the cab to get to the oil or fuel filters anymore.”
✔️ External Filter Access
The oil and fuel filters are now mounted at the rear of the machine, meaning you can service both without raising the cab. This is a huge time-saver for routine maintenance and makes the machine easier to work on in the field.

✔️ 90° Swing-Open Radiator
In older models, the radiator opened at a 45° angle — making it tough to access belts and cooling components. The TL11R3 radiator swings open a full 90°, giving you much better visibility and space to tighten belts or clean debris.
✔️ Improved Operator Comfort
By relocating the hydraulic tank to the rear of the machine, heat is reduced around the operator’s seat, making for a cooler, more comfortable working environment — especially during long shifts or in hot conditions.
✔️ Double Flange Front Rollers
Built with forestry and slope work in mind, the TL11R3’s double flange front rollers help keep tracks in place under stress. That means better reliability in rough terrain and fewer derailment issues.
✔️ Smooth EH Controls
From a performance standpoint, operators will notice smoother, more responsive control with the new EH system. Whether you’re grading, loading, or running attachments, the machine reacts cleanly to every input.

Designed for the Jobsite — and the Service Bay
It’s clear that Takeuchi didn’t just upgrade the TL11R3 for show — they listened to feedback from technicians and end-users. The result? A compact track loader that’s easier to maintain, more reliable in tough environments, and more comfortable to operate day after day.
“I’m very impressed with it,” Lee adds. “I hope to see future Takeuchi models follow suit with some of the serviceability features this thing has.”
